You're made of Stardust.

Kavita Agarwal

It's time to sparkle

We are a part of the Universe. The Universe conspires to fulfill all your wishes. I had heard

this so many times. But, I’ve always wondered, how am I a part of this Universe? Why would the

Universe want to fulfill my desires, when I am so small and insignificant compared to the Universe?

Recently, I finally understood the meaning of these statements, and would like to share my new

leanings with you.

So let us first see how insignificantly small we are as an individual. Let’s imagine ourselves in

the space that currently around us. We are definitely small compared to the size of the room. Let’s

see how small we are in view of the city are currently in. A tiny speck, right? Imagine how tiny we are compared to our country. Now let’s see where we stand in the world, our Earth, our solar system, our galaxy – the Milky Way, the entire Universe. We are minuscule in comparison. But our Ego? What we think of ourselves? And where do we actually stand?

Now let’s dive deep within ourselves, and see why we are significant. Imagine yourself

through a microscope – let’s magnify our self, our body is made up of a zillion tiny cells. Just our DNA is about 3 meters in length (that’s about 9 feet), the height of a normal size room that we live in. Our small intestine, if stretched out completely is around 20 feet, twice the height of a normal room. The nerves in our brain if stretched out would be 1,60,000 kilometers (one hundred thousand miles). These are the lengths of just a few parts of our body, and we are made up of many such complex parts, made up of tiny cells. When you think of it, we have a tiny Universe inside of us.

Each cell in our body is connected with other cells, and they exchange nutrition, energy and

information with one another. That is how our body functions. If we step on a pin and prick our self

in the foot, within an instant, the brain receives a message, and in turn will send out instructions to

different parts of the body to help us relieve our self of the pain. We will immediately take weight off that foot to avoid more injury, the hands will move towards the injured area to remove the pin, the eyes will focus on the injured area to see what damage has been incurred and figure out how to heal the injury. The body itself will trigger its self-repair system to heal the injured cells in that area.

Now, let us compare each of us individuals to each cell in our body. We are a part of the

universe. Just as the body heals itself and grows similarly every desire that we have, however small

we are in the universe, our surroundings help us fulfill our desires and wishes. Every time we are

stuck somewhere, the Universe just tries to help us grow with it. Every time we are happy or sad, it

gets reflected in our surroundings. We must constantly use these energies to empower us and help

us grow.

All the chemicals found in the Universe exist inside of our bodies too. We are made up of all

the components of the universe; air, water, land, wind and fire. This is how we are a part of the

Universal stardust.

Let us add another aspect to this. Let’s look at the complete picture, of how the Universe

works. Let us take our morning cup of tea, that we so enjoy. Who made the tea? Could you have the tea if someone hadn’t planted the tea plant on some hill slope in a remote village in Assam. Some women tea-leaf pickers worked all day long to pick the fresh tea leaves. They were dried by

someone, packaged by another, transported by another person still. The shopkeeper at your local

grocery store, he too is a part of how your tea was made. The hot gas burner, the utensils, the milk

man, the sugarcane farmer, all of these people helped you enjoy this particular cup of tea. So I ask

again, “Who made your tea?”

The entire Universe, the Sun, the weather, the plants, the people all are working to fulfill all

your needs and desires. Not from just now, but since before you even existed. You are just a tiny

speck in the Universe. You have a role to fulfill. Just as every drop of the ocean is a part of the ocean,so are we, a part of the Universe. A very significant part of the Universe!

Nobody can do what I can do. I am unique. I am always at the right place, at the right time,

doing the right thing. There is only One me. I am alive, as I fulfill some purpose of the Universe. I too am made of the Universe, just as the stars are!
